Fire Station 11 Construction Underway
The new Fire Station 11 at 820 Dundee Road has received its building permit and site cleaning and preparation work is substantially underway.
Shermer Road Corridor Work Resumes April 6
Construction restarts April 6, 2026, beginning with traffic signal work at Willow Road and topsoil and sod restoration along the side path and medians. Temporary lane closures will be in effect throughout the corridor.
Charlemagne Subdivision Concrete Patching Begins April 6
Starting April 6, the Village's contractor will perform concrete panel replacement, storm structure work, and parkway sod restoration on Picardy Lane, Michelline Lane, Bordeaux Drive, Bordeaux Court, Brittany Court, and Touraine Terrace.
Automated Water Meter Replacements Ongoing — Participation Mandatory
Installation of new water meters has been ongoing since April 2025; customers who have not yet scheduled their replacement are urged to do so promptly. Participation is mandatory with no opt-out option.
Fleet Maintenance Garage Renovation in Progress
Demolition of the garage floor was completed this week, and temporary window enclosures and interior wall demolition are finished. Upcoming work includes interior perimeter excavation for insulation, forming and pouring the south elevator pit, and wall preparation for waterproofing.
Spring Infrastructure Programs Launched
Public Works crews began the Spring Street Sweeping Program this week; residents can track progress on the Village's Street Sweeping webpage. Crews are also returning to winter water main break excavation sites to complete permanent restoration of asphalt, concrete, and parkway sod. Prescribed burns at Techny Native Area, Northbrook East Detention Basin, and Sunny Acres Detention Basin have been postponed due to weather, with rescheduled dates to be announced.
Upcoming Events
A Committee of the Whole Special Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 6 p.m. in the Terrace Room at Village Hall. Weekly curbside yard waste and composting pickup resumed April 1 and runs through November 25; stickers for extra containers are available at Village Hall and authorized retailers. A blood drive co-hosted by State Senator Morrison's office and Versiti Blood Center runs April 7, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 724 Elder Ln, Deerfield (call 847-945-5200). National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is April 25, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., at Northbrook Police Department, 1401 Landwehr Rd.
