Manager's Report — 17 Apr 2026: Storm Response, Street Projects, and PGA Tour Superstore Permit

A building permit has been issued for PGA Tour Superstore to renovate 1072 Willow Road — the former Restoration Hardware Outlet space (previously Best Buy) in the Willow Festival Shopping Center. No opening date was given.

Thunderstorms on the evening of April 14 dropped 1.87 inches of rain over 24 hours, per the National Weather Service, causing standing water at a few localized spots where sewer inlets were blocked. Public Works cleared the debris; the Village notes it has invested $26 million in stormwater infrastructure across 25 projects since adopting its Master Stormwater Management Plan in 2011, with addendums in 2012 and 2015.

New concrete panel installation is anticipated April 23–24 on Picardy Lane, Bordeaux Drive, Michelline Lane, Bordeaux Court, Brittany Court, and Touraine Terrace, with full completion expected in May 2026. Questions can be directed to Project Manager Keeley Evans at 847-272-4711.

Separately, landscaping improvements along the Shermer Road Corridor are underway, utility work in the Metra West Commuter Lot is continuing, and completion of a shared-use side path depends on asphalt availability and weather, with work anticipated to finish by the end of April.

Collections through April 2026 (January 2026 liability month) totaled $1,541,088 — $78,366, or 5.4%, above the same month in 2025 — and include the 1% municipal, 1% home rule, 1% local grocery, and 3% local cannabis taxes. The Illinois Department of Revenue noted some taxpayers had not yet collected or remitted the 1% local grocery tax that took effect in January, and is working to bring them into compliance, a process that may take several months.

The Plan Commission meets Tuesday, April 21, 2026 to consider Wood Oaks Junior High's request to re-subdivide its properties at the northwest corner of Walters Avenue and Sanders Court and at 1250 Sanders Road, creating a new vehicle circulation pattern and a dedicated school bus drop-off and pick-up area.

Northbrook Police will join a Skokie Police Department-led operation targeting motor vehicle thefts, vehicular hijackings, and vehicle burglaries. Northbrook sergeants and officers will focus on activity within Northbrook, with neighboring agencies covering Glenview and Highland Park, each responsible for incidents in its own jurisdiction.

Construction of 36 new units at Covenant Village is complete; the three-story buildings replace older single-story structures.

Unused or expired medications can be dropped off Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Northbrook Police Department, 1401 Landwehr Rd. The event is free and anonymous.

Residents can request at-home pickup of household hazardous waste (paints, batteries, cleaning products, fluids) through the LRS HHW program; requests submitted in April result in May collections.
