Plan Commission, 21 Apr 2026: District 27 Wants to Annex Parcels and Expand Parking at Wood Oaks
Northbrook School District 27 is requesting a bundled set of land-use approvals to add parking on the north side of Wood Oaks school and build a new bus lane off Walters Avenue on the south side.
Key items
- Voluntary annexation of unincorporated parcels — Two parcels currently outside Northbrook's boundaries would be brought into the village as part of the school expansion.
- Parking lot expansion — north side of Wood Oaks — Residents near Sanders Road may see increased traffic and construction activity if the expanded lot is approved.
- New bus circulation lane off Walters Avenue — A dedicated bus lane on the south side of the campus could change traffic patterns on Walters Avenue.
- Comprehensive Plan amendment and rezoning — Changing the land-use designations to Institutional Building District and Open Space sets a precedent for how these parcels can be used long-term.
