Fire Station 11 Groundbreaking

The April 29 ceremony at 820 Dundee Road marks the start of construction on a facility that will replace the 1971-era station. The new building will include four double-deep apparatus bays, decontamination gear storage, modern bunk rooms, and geothermal heating and cooling, with completion scheduled for June 2027.

Shermer Road Corridor Improvements

Crews placed topsoil, poured curb ramps at the northeast and southeast corners of Techny Road, completed paving the shared-use path, and poured curb and gutter for islands in the West Metra Commuter Lot. Next week's work on ADA ramps and median construction near Maple Avenue will impact traffic along Shermer Road and the West Metra Commuter Lot; questions go to Public Works at 847-272-4711.

Nicor Gas Main Restoration on Shermer Road

Nicor finished all gas main and individual service connection work this week and completed temporary roadway restoration. Full asphalt restoration is expected to begin as early as next week and finish by May 22; contact project manager Gwen Anderson at gwanders@southernco.com or 224-760-8925 with questions.

Concrete Street Patching

During the week of April 27, the contractor continued concrete pours on Touraine Terrace, Brittany Court, and Bordeaux Court. One side of Picardy Lane, Bordeaux Drive, and Michelline Lane is now complete and reopened; crews have begun panel removal and subgrade preparation on the opposite side, with additional pours planned as weather permits.

Automated Water Meter Project

As of April 29, 11,777 of the village's meters have been replaced, leaving 407 accounts still outstanding. Customers who have not scheduled their replacement are urged to do so promptly to avoid water service disruption.

Public Works Fleet Maintenance Garage

Street restoration on Commercial Avenue was completed following water service line installation, and storm sewer installation finished this week. Upcoming work includes demolition of the sanitary sewer service line and excavation for a storm trap stormwater detention system.
