Save the Date
National Night Out takes place Tuesday, August 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Meadowhill Aquatic Center (1501 Maple Ave.). The event is hosted by the Northbrook Police Department and the Northbrook Park District and features free swimming, K-9 demonstrations, games, giveaways, and snacks.
Northbrook Days Festival runs August 5 through 9 at the West Metra Commuter Lot. Organized by the Northbrook Civic Foundation, the five-day festival includes carnival rides and games, food from local restaurants, beer and wine, live music, raffles, and prizes. Project Updates
Cedar Lane Storm & Sanitary Sewer Work: The contractor continued storm sewer improvements near the southeast corner of Greenbriar School, keeping approximately five parking spaces on the west side of Cedar Lane temporarily closed. Sanitary sewer work also began at the northwest corner of Village Hall and directly across Cedar Lane, requiring temporary closure of an ADA parking space. Both improvements are expected to be completed this week, with backfilling, grading, and landscape restoration to follow early next week. 2026 Water Main Improvements: Next week, the contractor plans to begin excavating bore pits on the north side of Grace Road and west of Pfingsten Road to install new water main beneath Pfingsten Road using a trenchless method. Residents should expect traffic delays and note that on-street parking will be prohibited during construction. Fleet Maintenance Garage: Crews completed concrete placement for the lower-level slab and the transformer pad, and the ComEd transformer was installed. Underground electrical and plumbing rough-in work is expected to be finished by end of week. Work scheduled for the week of July 27 includes continued geothermal drilling, hydraulic lift installation, upper-level joist reinforcement, and the start of office area framing.
Fire Station 11: The contractor continued concrete placement for the building foundation, work expected to continue through next week. Once the perimeter foundation is complete, crews will move to the interior foundation. Electrical rough-in and grounding work for the building's lightning protection system also began around the perimeter.
GFOA Distinguished Budget Award: The Government Finance Officers Association awarded Northbrook its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the FY2027 Budget — the 33rd consecutive year the Village has received this recognition.
Sales Tax: Collections in July 2026 (liability month April 2026) totaled $1,814,577, up $99,983 from the same period in 2025. Full fiscal year 2026 sales tax collected prior to incentive payments reached $22,015,524, an increase of $2,135,091 over FY2025. Figures include the 1% municipal, 1% home rule, 1% local grocery (effective January 1, 2026), and 3% local cannabis taxes.
Development and Planning: The Zoning Code and Comprehensive Plan amendments approved by the Board of Trustees on July 14, 2026 are available on the Village website. A commercial alteration permit was issued for 3000 Dundee Rd #101 for True Mind + Body to expand an existing therapist office. A business license application was received for Fork & Flour Co., a new take-out restaurant and pastry shop at 2750 Dundee Rd #4.
Hiring: The Village has launched an online application portal for candidates interested in Northbrook Police Officer positions.
Employee News: Anna Ables joined the Village Manager's Office this week as the new Communications Director.
