The Northbrook Arts Commission met August 6 and advanced plans for a photography competition, a chalk art event, a 48-hour film challenge, and a community artwork display tied to the village's 125th anniversary.
Budget Status
Staff Liaison Emilia Talar reported that the Commission has spent $675 of its $10,000 spending plan as of August 6, 2026. Talar also reminded commissioners of upcoming communication deadlines for media coordination with the Village, Northbrook Public Library, and Northbrook Park District.
Plein Air Photography Competition
The competition launches with its first weekly challenge on August 17, 2026, with social media advertising beginning the week of August 10. Commissioner Harris will serve as a judge. The competition concludes September 6, 2026.
Chalk Up Northbrook

Separately, Sam Reiss — staff liaison to the Ad Hoc 125th Anniversary Celebration Commission — noted that the November 15, 2026, anniversary celebration event would like the Arts Commission to display artwork, with pieces potentially moved from the library display for that one-day event. Staff Liaison Talar will connect Chair Bondy with the Anniversary Commission.
Artist in Residence Program
