Save the Date
Northbrook Brewfest returns for its 6th annual edition on Saturday, September 19, from 3–7 p.m. at Village Green Park in Downtown Northbrook. The event is co-hosted by the Village and the Northbrook Park District and will feature craft beer tasting, live music, a photo booth, and games. Attendees can bring their own picnic or purchase food from nearby restaurants. Tickets are available through the Northbrook Park District website.
125th Anniversary Open House will be held Sunday, November 15, from 2–4 p.m. at Village Hall. The community celebration will include music, a Village birthday cake, Touch-a-Truck, historical displays, and local artwork. At 3:15 p.m., attendees are invited to help recreate a community photograph originally taken in 1925. More information is available at northbrook125.com.
Project Updates
Sales Tax: Monthly sales tax collections through September 2026 (liability month June 2026) totaled $4,167,788, an approximately 8% increase over the same period in 2025, which totaled $3,873,311. The figures include the 1% municipal, 1% home rule, 1% local grocery, and 3% local cannabis taxes.
Proposed Downtown TIF: The draft TIF Eligibility Study for a proposed Downtown Tax Increment Financing district has been posted to the Village website for public review. A presentation of the report and its findings is scheduled for the September 22, 2026, Village Board of Trustees meeting.
Skokie Boulevard Resurfacing: During the week of September 7, crews adjusted manhole structures and began saw-cutting curb and gutter sections. Beginning September 14, curbside lanes will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for curb and gutter replacement between Lake Cook Road and the Lifetime Fitness driveway. 2026 Sidewalk Replacement Program: The Village contractor completed sidewalk removal and replacement along the even-numbered sides of streets in Areas 2, 3, and 4 during the week of September 7. Minor driveway patching, site restoration, and cleanup were also finished. Contact Jim Huff with questions.
FY 26–27 Concrete Street Patching: Patching work continues in the Charlemagne subdivision and Sky Harbor Business Park during the week of September 14. Temporary lane, parking, and driveway restrictions are expected near active work areas, with door-hanger notices provided 24–48 hours before driveway closures. 2026 Water Main Improvements (Grace Road): During the week of September 7, the contractor continued water service transfers on Grace Road. A water main shutdown originally planned for September 10 was rescheduled to Monday, September 14, due to weather delays. The shutdown will disconnect the existing Grace Road water main from the Pfingsten Road water main. Affected residents will receive door-hanger notice at least 72 hours in advance. Restoration work — including concrete sidewalk and curb replacement and sod restoration — is anticipated to follow. Contact the Public Works Department at 847-272-4711 with questions.
Fire Station 11 Construction: During the week of September 7, the contractor continued installing structural steel on the north side, began installing precast planks at the hose tower and apparatus bay mezzanine, and continued underground electrical conduit installation and masonry rough-in work. Concrete masonry unit installation at the hose tower is anticipated to continue the week of September 14.
Fleet Maintenance Garage Construction: During the week of September 7, the contractor completed installation of the second of three layers of garage floor concrete slab reinforcement and radiant heating tubing, and finished structural steel installation at the north elevator. Work during the week of September 14 will include continued geothermal drilling and roof installation over the office area.
