Manager's Report — 18 Sep 2026: Brewfest Canceled, Meadow Plaza Hearing Set

The Village Board holds two meetings on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. A Committee of the Whole meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Terrace Room, followed by a Regular Village Board meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room. The September 22 meeting will include a presentation of the draft TIF Eligibility Study and its findings.

The weekly Police Bulletin has been updated for the week ending September 18, 2026.

Northbrook Brewfest — Canceled: The Brewfest event has been canceled due to inclement weather. All ticket holders will receive a full refund. Attendees are directed to the Brewfest event page for more information.

125th Anniversary Open House — November 15: The Village will host a community Open House on Sunday, November 15, from 2–4 p.m. at Village Hall. Activities include music, a Village birthday cake, Touch-a-Truck, historical displays, and local artwork. At 3:15 p.m., attendees are invited to help recreate a community photograph originally taken in 1925. More information is available at northbrook125.com.

Skokie Boulevard Resurfacing: During the week of September 14, the contractor closed curbside lanes and began replacing curb and gutter sections south of the I-94 Edens Expressway bridge. On September 19, crews adjusted catch basins and inlets to align with the new curb and gutter. During the week of September 21, curbside lanes will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for continued curb and gutter replacement, primarily north of the I-94 bridge to Lake Cook Road, weather permitting. Driveway access may be temporarily restricted; businesses with one driveway will maintain one-lane access. Sky Harbor Business Park: During the week of September 14, the contractor replaced concrete panels on the odd-numbered sides of Wainwright Drive, MacArthur Boulevard, and Melvin Drive, and adjusted storm sewer drainage structures. Restoration work including landscaping and curb and gutter is anticipated during the week of September 28. Intermittent traffic impacts, lane closures, and parking restrictions should be expected near active work areas. FY 26-27 Concrete Street Patching — Charlemagne Subdivision: During the week of September 14, the contractor replaced concrete driveway aprons and sidewalk, adjusted storm sewer drainage structures, and restored mailboxes and sprinkler systems. During the week of September 21, the contractor anticipates installing joint sealing on replaced concrete panels and performing landscape restoration.

Fleet Maintenance Garage Construction: During the week of September 14, the contractor completed installation of the third and final layer of concrete slab reinforcement and radiant heating tubing for the garage floor. Work planned for the week of September 21 includes continuing geothermal drilling, framing in the office area, mechanical/electrical/plumbing rough-in work in the office area, and roof installation over the office area.

Fire Station 11 Construction: During the week of September 14, crews continued installing concrete masonry units at the hose tower and apparatus bay mezzanine, installed structural steel on the north side of the site, installed underground electrical conduits, completed masonry rough-ins, and continued utility improvements. During the week of September 21, crews expect to continue installing precast planks at the hose tower and begin framing on the north side of the site, weather permitting.

2026 Water Main Improvements — Grace Road: During the week of September 14, the contractor continued water service transfers on Grace Road and performed a rescheduled water main shutdown on September 15, which allowed disconnection of the existing water main on Grace Road from the Pfingsten Road main. The contractor also removed an existing fire hydrant at the cul-de-sac island and decommissioned the existing water main under Pfingsten Road. During the week of September 21, restoration work is planned, including sidewalk, curb and gutter, and driveway replacement. Two building permits were recently issued:

• A commercial addition permit was issued to the Islamic Cultural Center at 1810 Pfingsten Road for a new elevator and relocated reception space.
• A permit was issued for a new Mariano's fuel center at 784 Skokie Boulevard.

• The new Rivian dealership at 1810 Skokie Boulevard is nearing completion, with final building inspections scheduled for September 17. An occupancy certificate may be issued following final inspections.
• The public hearing for the Meadow Plaza Shopping Center redevelopment has been scheduled for a Special Plan Commission meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, at the Techny Prairie Activity Center, 180 Anets Drive. The larger venue was selected to accommodate more attendees than Village Hall's Board Room. Information is available on the Village's Public Notice and Meadow Plaza project webpage.
• The draft TIF Eligibility Study was posted online and shared with the Village Board and school districts. Its findings will be presented at the September 22 Village Board meeting.
• Development and Planning Services posts year-to-date information online, including 2026 Commercial Building Permits, new 2026 Business Licenses, development applications under review, and projects and new developments in Northbrook.
